Carol Teegardin, who reigned for a decade as the dishiest, most readable gossip columnist in Detroit re-emerges as author of a suspense-ridden play about the noir life and sudden death of an exotic dancer and her fateful connection to the Hip-Hop Mayor’s bachelor party at the Manoogian Mansion.
Prior to playwriting, Carol covered breaking business news for the Detroit Free Press, taught journalism ethics at University of Detroit-Mercy and spent one summer with the Horizon Bound students at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills. She taught creative writing classes in California and has a master’s degree in Secondary Education with other degrees in English and Journalism. She adapted her true crime book, "Strawberry, How an Exotic Dancer Toppled Detroit's Hip-Hop Mayor" into the play. "Strawberry - What Party?" debuted last January at Detroit's Marlene Boll Theatre, was well received and is coming back for a second run at Henry Ford College this September. |
Mary F. Bremer-Beer, director and co-producer of “Strawberry – What Party?" has directed and appeared in countless theatrical productions throughout the years.
